Applegate Trail Musum, Rogue River Scenic Loop Drive, southwest Oregon Siskiyou Mountains
Return to Rogue River - Wolf Creek scenic loop

Applegate Trail Interpretive Center

The Applegate Trail has just as much significance as the Oregon Trail in the historic settlement of the Oregon Territory and the Applegate Trail Museum is the best place in the country to learn about this story. Visitors find a beautiful interior with displays that tell about the Applegate Trail and the history of the settlement that followed. A one-way tour route takes you through the chronological history complete with soundtracks that bring displays to life. The orientation movie shown at the beginning of the tour has an unusual three screen display that won it an award for creativity and casting.

The Grave Creek covered bridge is located a short distance down the road from the museum.

Directions

From Grants Pass, drive north on Interstate 5 about 14 miles to Exit 71. At the end of the off-ramp, turn left (away from the freeway) and drive less than a half mile to the museum on the right. If you go through the covered bridge, you have gone about 500 feet too far. If you are at Wolf Creek, drive south on Interstate 5  for about five miles to Exit 71. At the end of the off-ramp, turn left and go under the freeway to the museum and covered bridge. If you want to take the scenic route, follow the Rogue River Scenic Loop Drive from Grants Pass.
